About the Installation Assurance Authority Commercial Services (IAA CS)
The IAA has become the go to technical authority for advice and support on energy efficiency measures having led the way on the development of technical guides for the industry, ensuring that standards are met by providing exemplary quality assurance, consumer protection and commercial services. The IAA has led the way in the delivery of effective, quality coordination services and has been fundamental to the development of current practices.
Course Pre-Requisites
This course has been designed for learners who are aged 18 years of age or older and have some experience or understanding within the energy efficiency or construction sector. Once completed, this course will give you the knowledge and skills to enable you to fully assess domestic dwellings and provide homeowners with an Energy Performance Certificate. The course will require some pre-reading to be completed ahead of the start date to ensure a full understanding. Please be aware that to become an accredited Energy Assessor you do also need to provide a basic DBS check (not required for this course).
Course Outline
This course consists of 4 mandatory units:
- Conduct energy assessments in a safe, effective and professional manner
- Prepare for energy assessments of domestic properties
- Undertake energy inspections
- Produce and explain Energy Performance Certificates relating to domestic properties
Qualification Outcome
On successful completion of your portfolio, you will achieve a recognised qualification; Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Energy Assessment certified by ABBE who are an Ofqual regulated Awarding Organisation.

This course is currently fully-funded for those living or working in the Central Bedfordshire area, through BESA (Beds Education and Skills Academy) and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
