About the Installation Assurance Authority Commercial Services (IAA CS)
The IAA has become the go to technical authority for advice and support on energy efficiency measures having led the way on the development of technical guides for the industry, ensuring that standards are met by providing exemplary quality assurance, consumer protection and commercial services. The IAA has led the way in the delivery of effective, quality coordination services and has been fundamental to the development of current practices.
The IAA CS also offers training in courses to support industry standards including the
Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management in compliance with PAS2035.
Course Pre-Requisites
A professional qualification in a building-related subject such as architecture, surveying, engineering or construction management at
Level 4, or an
NVQ at
Level 3 or above with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a subject related to the management or supervision of construction and domestic construction projects.
Learners will also need to be familiar with domestic construction techniques, able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications and be familiar with the Building Regulations and with construction health and safety regulations and practice.
Learners must be able to demonstrate the requirements of the qualification and have access to required assessment opportunities and relevant resources. Please refer to specific assessment requirements on individual components for more information.
This qualification is available to learners aged 18 years or over.
Course Outline
The aims of this course is to equip learners with specific knowledge and skills on the requirements of domestic retrofit to meet the standards detailed in
PAS2035.
Candidates are required to carry out an exam, professional discussions and a case study.

- Retrofit Quality Assurance and Risk Management
- Building Physics – Managing Moisture Risk
- Building Physics – Thermal Efficiency
- Improving the Building Fabric – Floors and Roofs
- Improving the Building Fabric – Walls and Windows
- Improving the Building Services - Heating, Hot Water, Lighting and Power
- Improving the Building Services – Renewable Energy Systems
- Improving Airtightness and Ventilation
- Improvement Option Evaluation and Medium-term Retrofit Plans
- Post Retrofit Testing, Monitoring and Evaluation
- Understand the requirements for lodgement of measures to TrustMark
Professional discussion, case study review and exam dates are arranged after online sessions have taken place.
Qualification Outcome
On successful completion of an online exam you will achieve a recognised qualification from
The National Open College Network (NOCN) Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management who are an Ofqual regulated qualification.
Please note the exam is booked at a suitable time with the learner after course sessions are completed.
Costs
This course costs £1650 + VAT per delegate.
CITB Levy Grant - If you are a CITB Registered employer you could be entitled to £600 grant funding this course.
